Medical acupuncture

WholeBody Solutions offers acupuncture to help you achieve holistic health. The goal of acupuncture is to improve health both physically and spiritually by rebalancing the body’s own healing mechanisms. It is based on the ideology that when the body is in balance, it is able to heal itself.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of Oriental medicine that has been practiced for centuries. While it originated in China thousands of years ago, it became widely popular in the United States and Western Europe in the latter part of the 20th century.

Acupuncture has been recognized by the World Health Organization as a viable treatment for over 25 conditions. Several studies have pointed to this method’s healing and therapeutic benefits, and some have shown that its effectiveness is grounded in science.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture is premised on the belief that patterns of energy, called Qi, flow through pathways in the body known as meridians. When something blocks or disrupts the Qi’s flow, the body’s balance is disrupted, resulting in illnesses.

Acupuncture involves inserting needles in various points along the meridians to restore the flow of the Qi. Consequently, balance in the body is restored, allowing the body to repair itself. There are over 2,000 acupuncture points, each one relating to a body function or health problem, and 14 major meridians.

Western scientists explain the effectiveness of acupuncture through neuroscience concepts. Acupuncture points lie along places where nerves, muscles and tissues may be stimulated, improving blood flow and triggering the release of the body’s natural painkillers. Other studies have shown acupuncture to work on balancing the body’s electrical system and blood chemistry.

WholeBody Solutions’ acupuncture programs

Our acupuncture program does not simply address physical complaints and symptoms. It on healing the underlying causes of disease and health challenges in order to restore overall well-being.

  • Our acupuncture professionals

Our acupuncturists are licensed professionals who have achieved much more than the requisite 4 years of formal education and clinical training for licensing. They are dedicated experts who have spent years growing their learning experiences about holistic health, and are the best examples of how holistic health practices can improve your life.

We will request for your full health history, including information on your symptoms and lifestyle. A physical examination may also be performed, including an analysis of the tongue and pulse, and palpation of the abdomen and areas of discomfort.

Findings from your health history and from the physical examination will allow our acupuncturists to detect imbalances in your Qi that may have led to health problems. Based on this, our acupuncturists will develop a treatment plan specific to your condition, identifying the acupuncture points on your body that are essential to addressing your health concerns.

  • Acupuncture sessions

The entire process is safe and painless. Our acupuncturist will insert fine, sterile needles on the identified acupuncture points along your body to remove any obstruction to the flow of the Qi. By freeing the circulation of the Qi, acupuncture restores your body’s ability to heal itself, eliminating pain and discomfort.

  • Number of sessions

The needed number of sessions depends on various factors, including the condition of your Qi, the acuteness of your health problem, and your body’s response to the treatments.

The healing period varies by individual, and can be anywhere from days to months, sometimes even years. Some patients get immediate relief while others may need a longer time. Typically, it will take a month before you can see changes. Your acupuncturist will recommend the appropriate number of treatments, plus regular or seasonal check-ups.

Acupuncture fees

The fee schedule, if not covered by insurance, is:
• Initial visit – $120

Chinese herbal medicines

Acupuncture is typically complemented by the use of Chinese herbal medicines. Chinese herbal medicines make use of natural substances, particularly plants and minerals, to promote the balance of the yin and yang elements in your body. This results in increased bodily strength and relief from symptoms.
